Poetry of Tempelhof in Berlin: how to survive a bad day

wannabepoeta - poetry survive bad day - Berlin - TempelhofIt was an enjoyable even if windy Sunday afternoon when I decided to take the S-Bahn to wherever it would bring me. I ended up in a beautiful park called Tempelhof.

Tempelhof is a particular place for many reasons. First of all until 2008 there was a big airport there and basically this park is based where the airstrip was. Now it’s a huge expanse of grass where kids play with colorful kites and adults relax on the top of hay bales. It’s amazing to find something like that in the heart of Berlin. But Berlin has many secrets, you know.

When I saw Tempelhof through the window of the S-Bahn I decided instinctively to get out and have a walk there. I challenged the wind and I arrived to the center of the park where I sat on a hay bale.

Here I wrote this poetry:

Oh I regret that time
when my pain had your name
ain’t no other to blame
I got used to the same
darkness again and again
and it became light
no reason to fight
This feeling of relief
I just regret your teeth
on my neck
but don’t look back
in blue
like the sea
You drowned me in
Until the last breath.
Sun goes down again
and I found myself
not missing you any more.
Night comes down on the floor
And throws the problems away.
World belongs to those
Who survive a bad day.
